These .package files are the main content pack data files.
I would guess something in the game installation directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\De Sims 4 (64-bitowy system Windows)
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\De Sims 4 (32-bitowy system Windows)
These are files that should not be deleted at all. Because it can ruin the game. It needs to be reinstalled. Origin may actually try to install what has been removed.

Within The Sims 4 folder, there should be a folder named "cache" and a folder named "cachestr".
If you have any issues with the game, it's a good idea to post a message on the tech board.

I'm really not sure. Thought that despite only playing offline, you should still have a cache folder. Try posting this question in a thread on our tech forum where our tech moderators will be able to answer it much better than me!

Don't delete them. I'm not sure what it is or where you're looking for it, but the localthumbcache.package file is in The Sims 4 folder.
Docs>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4... if you look at the list of all tabs etc you see the file "localthumbcache.package", it looks like a Word document... you know, like it has a "sheet of paper" icon instead of a "folder" icon
When in doubt, do not delete.

I'm one of those crazy Simmers who usually keep my game saves, lots and houses on an external hard drive in case I want to play with it in the future. *is smiling*
It's easy to do:
1. Go to The Sims 4 folder
C:\Users\
2. Right-click the Saves folder and copy it to your external hard drive.
3. Do the same with the Tray folder if you want to store household and plot files.

Yes, you can delete files from the Lotcacheddata folder. Just don't delete the folder itself.

Depends if you want a "fresh/new" game. If you want a new/new game, you can delete all content from the save folder.
If you want to backup your saved games first. Then right-click on the save folder and select Copy. Then paste it into a folder outside of The Sims 4 folder or onto a flash drive or something similar.

Hi! I'm going crazy. I went in and deleted a couple of caches - followed the instructions here exactly and didn't delete anything I shouldn't have.
What I did was copy/paste the entire Electronic Arts folder from my local drive to the hard drive where I have my Sims 4 game and where I actually thought I had all my Sims 4 files.
Anyway, now when I go to Sims 4 my saves are completely gone, I can't even open them
In the game. I am very sad because I have made huge progress.
I did the whole save file and deleted the ".ver0" file but that still didn't help. My game has probably lost connection to my saved games because I moved them from my local drive to my hard drive... But how do I get my saved games back into the game? God...
Thank you for an overall very helpful guide!

OK, update:
So I cut/pasted the same electronic graphics folder as before. Everything seems to be back to normal. (Whew!) But is there any way to move ALL of the Sims 4 data to the hard drive without the game crashing and losing its data connection? I told Origin to put all the data in a folder on my hard drive, but it looks like I need to do more than that. Do you have ideas?
Thank you in advance. x

When we need/want to save the Sims 4 folder, we usually copy and paste it to the backup drive. Give it a different name, for example: Sims4-Current. Then copy and paste the save files etc when you need/want them.

I'm not sure what's going on with your game. However, if you don't have Origin's repair feature or if it's not working properly. It might be a good idea to uninstall/reinstall the origin app and see if that helps restore the repair function.
Trying a factory reset may also help. As usual when the game is weird to me.

Hey, is it bad that I didn't have a lotcachedData folder? I know I didn't delete anything from the Sims 4 folder and I didn't even see it, nor did I have the cachewebkit.
But I delete the one I see and I have an online thumbnail cache folder but nothing in it, I just left it. I think most of the files are clean because I patched the game on 9/21/2016. (If I'm wrong, I don't really like PC games. I like to play, but I'm afraid of going into folders and files.)

If you have an older The Sims 4 folder that still contains the cachewebkit file and the lotcachedata folder, you can delete them. Because they are safe to delete and are gone by default.
This means that when you create a new folder for The Sims 4, they will not be visible as they are no longer needed by the game.

The thumbnails are in the cache folder because you were online once and used the Gallery. Therefore, you can safely move them to the trash.
The cachewebkit file and lotcachedata folder are safe to delete and are no longer there by default, so if you don't have them in your current folder, no problem.

The cachewebkit file and lotcachedata folder are no longer there by default, so if you don't have them in your current folder, no problem. The spotlight file is something everyone has, so that's normal too. If you're cleaning up, you can safely delete the reflector file.

I didn't save the game because it only came out for fear of making things worse. Will I ever get it back? I'm not quite sure what you're asking. But I know that the lotcachedata folder has nothing to do with saved houses/lots or families/households. They are located in the Drawer folder. (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray)
If you haven't saved for a while, you may not be able to do much. However, check the autosaved file to see what you can find in it. Click on the message below to learn how to restore a previously saved game.
How to: Restore a saved game
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=21519.msg387147#msg387147
If missing packages are in your current game, you can store them in your library/gallery. However, if the drawer folder is empty, you won't be able to recover the files anyway.

EMPLOYEE!!
I've been having problems with Sims 4 for a while now. I have a Mac and I can't find answers to my problems on my Mac.
A few weeks ago my game wouldn't update, kept trying and stuck at 13% then stopped on its own. The only way to close Origin was to restart the entire computer. He finally managed to fix the problem and the update was magically completed overnight! I already purchased the New City Life add-on, but I can't download it anymore. It gets to 13% and nothing. I've tried deleting all the cache files but can't find the original files the guy is talking about in the link to another site! Any help is appreciated! I really don't want to remove the source code because I'm afraid I'll never be able to download games again :(
Thank you

Try closing Origin completely, restart your computer and try downloading again. Or uninstall/reinstall Origin.
Because there are reports of problems with the new Origin, and if this happens, it's best to just reinstall Origin.
You may be able to find better help if you visit the Bluebellflora website. He knows more about Macs. :)

Deleting the localthumbcache.package file does not remove any content. I do this daily, and often multiple times when using mods or testing new mods/cc etc.
The other folders (cache and cachestr) have a job, so you can delete the content but not the folder. If you follow steps 1-4 from Carl's guide above, you should be fine.
